Functional gadget tree

To show the designing process of the functional gadgets I have made this layout who looks like a family tree. This because some designs where born and reproduced or processed, while others just died. As you can see I gave all the functional gadgets a name and ended up with 6 different  functional gadget designs.

UNISEX

Referring again to the fashion world, I came up with the idea to design an Unisex collection. Therefore I first need to choose a male and a female model. The female would be the dark ,polished, curved chair I am already using and the male would be the rough and rectangular shaped ‘ Ivar’ from IKEA.

 

 

As an unisex collection, the gadgets should fit on both chairs and on as much chairs as possible. Of course just as humans, chairs have different sizes and formats. The fashion world always designs for the XS shape. But with a small adjustment ( changing the scale) the clothes fit for everyone. This is also what the functional gadgets of the WOODL collection will achieve.

 

 

The gadgets ‘Lean back’, ‘Hang on’ and ‘Hug’ are already unisex. The’ Story time’ and ‘Rocking’ will be made on the female model. With a small adjustment in the legs both will fit on every chair.  The ‘Side’ will be made on the male model. With a small adjustment of the tablet itself it will fit on every model.

In my wool experiments I tried out different techniques and this actually gives a very nice and natural effect. I will be using a combination of these techniques for the blanket of the Rocking chair and the Hug.

The metal details should not be visible and therefore a nice design solution will cover this aspect. Probably the details will be covered by wool.
