The title for my graduation project came there due to many reasons. BREAK comes from: Breaking the line between two elements, One element breaks itself lose from the other one, A breakthrough, A pause, Mathematical: one opposite or divided by the other, Grammatical: the little sign between two words which separate them, Just a short catchy word.

Body shape wall

Program?

The design will be an interactive screen which divides and decorates a space. It will create a statement against the hard flat wall we all know.  It will be possible to have a certain intimacy with the screen since it will shape to your body. The screen will be more than a room divider, it will become a furniture piece.

What?
The design will be a screen which translates a sensory border. It will be possible to build up a ‘relationship’ with the wall, you will be able to hug it, lean against it, touch it, cuddle it, …
The screen will be made out of a soft stretching open cell material which can take the shape of your body. When you leave the screen it will show your trace in it and finally grow back to its original shape. It will seem like you can disappear into the wall since it will surround your body. The screen will due to its softness and properties look like a big cushion which can shape to your body, it will breath and insulate. The wall will be an interactive and sensory experience due to the movement of the body. The screen will create a soft interactive in-between place. Due to the open cell structure it will ventilate, be elastic and shape to your body. I will start from creating a material to develop the design. The material will show its characteristics and lead me to a program. As an example for how the material should feel like I want to refer to the Tempur material which shapes to your body.

Experiments material:

- Make the foam vacuum (or blow it up).
- Several foam layers ( with holes)
- Several different layers
